How are Lookahead Tasks connected to Master Schedule Activities?

In Outbuild there is a separation of entities, only in terms of visualization, which allows us to have a macro view of the project from the Master Schedule and a very granular view of the work in the Lookahead.

These entities are:

  • Activities: Visualized in the Master Schedule, which make up the Gantt of our project.

  • Tasks: We will visualize tasks in the Lookahead, Grouped by Activity.

Even with this separation, activities and tasks are linked. That is, the rescheduling and advances that occur in the tasks of the Lookahead will impact the activity of the Gantt to which they are linked:

1. When a Task is delayed:

If the scheduled dates of the tasks exceed/transgress the dates of the activity that groups them, a modification request can be generated, which, if approved, will modify the dates and duration of the activity in the Gantt chart. Otherwise, the request can be rejected and the dates and duration of the activity will not be modified in the Gantt chart.

2. When a Task is progressed:

Each task of an activity group has a weight, which determines the percentage of progress that each one contributes when completed. Therefore, the completion of a task in the Lookahead will contribute a percentage of progress to the activity of the Master Schedule.
