What is the Lean State?

The Lean state is a concept taken from the Last Planner System methodology based on the evolution of the level of uncertainty that the tasks have during the planning process, allowing us to generate much more reliable weekly production plans.

We will detail these states below:

Selectable States

These states can be manually picked by the user:

  1. Should: All tasks start from this state. They correspond to an initial stage of planning where the time and allocated resources are ideal. We know the work that we 'should' execute, but we are not sure that we can execute them on the scheduled dates.
  2. Can: These are tasks that have a 'free field' to be executed, have all the necessary resources for their execution (labor, material, equipment, plans, etc.) and will avoid creating delays.
  3. Weekly Plan: This status corresponds to the tasks that are sent to the Weekly Plan module, that is, they are the tasks that we will execute in our production weeks.

Linked States:

Corresponds to those that are linked and depend on other existing flows on the platform:

  1. Restricted:  This status will be automatically assigned when assigning a Roadblock to a task.
  2. Committed:  This status will be automatically assigned to all tasks within a production week, once the task has been committed.

Note: The weekly calculation of the Percentage of Project Completion (PPC) indicator is based on the tasks that we define with the Committed status in the weekly Plan. Make sure to commit your tasks!
